SWISS DAYS IN SANTA CLARA
PARADE INFORMATION
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2018 – Parade starts at 9:30AM
Meet at 8:50 AM - We will meet in the driveway of the Jacob Hamblin Home on Santa Clara Drive – west end of the city
THEY WILL BE CLOSING SANTA CLARA DRIVE FOR THE PARADE!!! PLEASE BE ON TIME!!
(From the parade planners: )
Please plan to enter the city by way of the west end of town-Pioneer Parkway onto Santa Clara Drive – to reach the staging area. This will ease traffic problems and congestion at the staging area allowing for quicker and easier line up, as well as smoother traffic flow. We appreciate your help by coming to the parade staging area via the west entrance of the city. – map on back
Parade Route: The parade route will run from Gates Lane and proceed East, past the City office, and end at Santa Clara Parkway. Band members should be lined up by 8:50 am. The parade will start promptly at 9:30 am
Parents, please meet your students near where the street is blocked off at the East end of Santa Clara Drive (just past Santa Clara Parkway) to pick them up. (See map on the back)
WHAT TO WEAR:
The uniform for this parade will be the SCMS Band T-shirt with Black shorts and black or grey shoes. Please come as close to this as possible. With the exception of shoes in a few individual cases, the uniform will be strictly enforced. Failure to comply may result in you not being allowed to march in the parade and a zero for your grade. Great marching bands not only sound good, but also look good--please help us in this.
EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTS:
All students are responsible for bringing their own instruments and equipment to the parades (This includes percussion, banner carriers, color guard, and school-owned instruments). Do not bring any cases to the parade--there will be no place to put them and you can’t carry them with you. Only bring your instrument.
FORGOT YOUR INSTRUMENT???
If you happen to forget your instrument and need to pick it up, I will be at the school Friday until 4:00 PM and Saturday morning from 7:50 AM to 8:10 AM.
GRADING:
Each parade will count 100 Points toward your performance grade. Points will be deducted for playing out of turn and/or doing anything that would be a bad representation for SCMS--remember, you are representing the school and your community--your best is expected. Please be early and on time. When you arrive, check in the parent with the clipboard, so you can receive credit for being there. Please be on time.
THANK YOU!
