Marching Band - INFORMATION ABOUT LUNCH REHEARSALS AND OUR FIRST PARADE
Dear students, parents and guardians,
The week of Sep. 16-20, I will be running lunch / Advisory rehearsals on, Wednesday the 18th and Thursday the 19th. I may do one Friday if absolutely necessary but I hope it is not. These rehearsals are for all students who are in Concert,Symphonic and Percussion Classes. Our first parade is Sep. 21st (The Rodeo Parade) and we need these rehearsals to put the marching band together. I have asked my fellow teachers to allow me to have these students on those days for these rehearsals.
Students will report to the band room directly after their second class of the day. Role will be taken and a grade given for attendance. We will finish rehearsal and go to lunch at approx. 11:40. School lunch will be available for students who normally get lunch at school. Some students prefer to bring a lunch on these days to give them more time to eat.
I realize It's a long stretch this week for some of them especially if they need interventions for other classes too. I would be willing to work out some creative solutions to help them, but I really need them to function as a whole group so they will know how to do this. These rehearsals won't work unless I get everybody there and working together. We will only need one other lunch rehearsal during Marching Season (to Nov. 11th) after this week.
They have been told that if it is a priority day for interventions, they must seek the consent of that teacher before they come. I will send out a list of all students who are involved for the teachers and work with them to make sure my students are taken care of.
Thank you for your patience and let me know if you have any conflicts with interventions or these rehearsals that I could help to resolve.
All 8th grade students (or those new to marching), who are ready to play and march will earn 50-100 pts of Extra Credit for participating. Some are panicking a little. If I determine they can do it, then they are required to attend. We need as many as possible.
All band students are expected to march in the Swiss Days parade and that is the next Saturday, the 28th of Sep.
Please make sure you have cleared all conflicts with Mrs. Czarnecki by turning in the Absence request form and having it approved. More information on attendance policies can by found in the band handbook on my website.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Czarnecki
Director of Bands
